Bonny B

Originally from Cambodia, Bonny B, born as Su Pheaktra Boniface Chanmongkhon, came to Switzerland in 1979 when he and his family fled the Polpot regime.

Very early, his faith in Blues and Soul music became evident. His first step as a singer and harmonica player was to play along with records ranging from Muddy Waters to Percy Sledge.

In the 90’s, in his quest towards the mythical depth of the Chicago Blues, he puts together the Bonny B. Blues Band and plays numerous gigs in clubs, festivals and concerts.

In 1999 after a short stay in Chicago, Bonny B. records his first album entitled “CAMBODIA”, with the complicity of drummer Sal Lombardo and guitarist Laurent Poget. Ten original songs and a superb version of Larry Garner’ s “Live a Little”.

The fusion of the three personalities gives to Bonny B.’s music a new colour, modern, original and genuine, without compromising the magical simplicity of the Blues. No doubt about it, “CAMBODIA” is a great album which will surprise a few and charm all the blues and world music lovers.
